Electrial Voltage in Budapest
Hungary uses 220-240 volts and 50 hertz. This means U.S. appliances can not be used while in Budapest.
However, you can use U.S. hair dryers, curling irons, and other small appliances under two conditions: 1. Buy dual voltage appliances (this will be clearly stated somewhere on the package.) 2. Buy an international plug adapter available on line for about $3.
Appliances that are not dual voltage require transformers. Unless you plan to stay in Budapest long term, it is probably unwise to bring appliances from the States that require transformers.
Most computers are dual voltage and will only require a plug adapter to work properly.
